Exhibition (New Zealand)

20 Mar - 12 Dec 2019

Short Synopsis

LA based multi-platinum NZ producer & songwriter MARK TIERNEY presents a unique piece of aural art, combining electronica with ambient guitar and the folk songs of New Zealand and Scandinavia in this riveting 10 minute extract from his longform THE EXHIBITION SHOW, THE BONES OF THE 20th CENTURY. Mark on synths and computer is joined on treated guitar and voice by Swedish singer/songwriter EMMA EJWERTZ in this haunting cinematic piece that builds from European plainsong and a Swedish nursery rhyme to a pounding rhythmic climax that speaks to the ruinous inheritance of the 20th Century.

Depending on venue the live audio is supported by video elements shot specifically by Mark for this piece.

Afterward Mark and Emma discuss their collaboration, the harmonious mixing of cultural identities and blending live music to fit a cinematic form.
