Disaffected is a new contemporary performance about the vulnerability of our planet.
Using arresting movement, sound and imagery, Disaffected navigates through the Pacific to respond to environmental issues. Stirring both personal and political viewpoints, Disaffected seeks to understand what the rise of environmental disasters means to different communities in the Pacific, and what role Australia plays.
Confronting yet tender, Disaffected explores the resilience of people living on the frontline of catastrophe. What does it take to continually rebuild your community? And how do these communities find small pockets of hope amid the devastation that surrounds them?
Disaffected is an immersive work of intricate stories that is highly charged, unavoidably dirty and utterly affecting.
It is directed by Kym Vercoe (Theatre Kantanka, version 1.0) and performed by a one of a kind cast - Latai Taumoepeau, Valerie Berry and Ryuichi Fujimura - all who have brought their own heritage and unique experiences to the work.
