CHAMBER MADE OPERA creates work that re-imagines ways in which musical composition, sound, voice, performance, design and architecture can converge. The company interrogates the parameters of the operatic form and is dedicated exclusively to the creation of new work of our time and place. CHAMBER MADE OPERA is committed to testing new ways for audiences to experience their work, through immersion, participation and other strategies that challenge traditional audience roles. Synonymous with commissioning/presenting work at the very edge of contemporary practice, the company has forged partnerships with Arts Centre Melbourne, Punctum, Federation Square, Limerick City of Culture (IRE), In Between Time Festival (UK), RMIT University, Bell Shakespeare, La Mama, Melbourne Recital Centre, Victorian Opera, Writers Victoria, The Wheeler Centre, Aphids, Speak Percussion, Rawcus, Malthouse Theatre and the New Music Network.
Since 1988 CHAMBER MADE OPERA has been recognised for continually challenging the artform, bringing together outstanding creative teams and taking on inspired artistic challenges. The company's works are immediate, intimate, collaborative, interdisciplinary and experimental. Partnering with Australian and international artists, companies, festivals and institutions CHAMBER MADE OPERA has presented over 90 performance seasons in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, the United States and South America. The company has extensive experience working on international tours, co-productions and residencies, having commissioned over 50 new Australian works and engaged over 1400 artists during its lifetime.
