For 15 years, nationally and internationally acclaimed Wellington-based theatre company, The Conch have specialised in telling Pacific stories through a unique blend of visual magic, spoken word and original music.
Led by directors Nina Nawlaowalo and Tom McCrory, working alongside a team of collaborators including composer Gareth Farr and acclaimed Italian lighting designer Fabiana Piccioli, the company have delighted audiences all over the world. The Conch’s works have been presented at over 30 national and international festivals, including seasons at the Sydney Opera house and London’s Barbican Theatre.
Winning many awards including Chapman Tripp Wellington Theatre Awards, an Outstanding Theatre award at the Edinburgh Festival, and the Excellence Award at The Auckland theatre awards. Their latest work The White Guitar sold out many of its performances during its 9 city national tour of New Zealand, attracting standing ovations at every show.
Alongside their main stage productions their ground breaking Conchus programme harnesses the power
of theatre as a force for social change from Youth programmes in Porirua and Wellington, to setting up of a National Women’s theatre in The Solomon Islands, in partnership with The British Council and funded by the EU.
