Description

The Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia manage the Adelaide, Mount Lofty and Wittunga Botanic Gardens, as well as Botanic Park.

The three Botanic Gardens and Botanic Park are some of Adelaide's premiere outdoor venues.

There are a range of different outdoor spaces available in the Gardens, including small, intimate spaces with an audience size of 10-20, up to large open areas for audiences of 1500.

The Gardens has hosted or programmed live music, theatre and dance, children's performances, sound and visual art installations, as well as outdoor events which include display stalls, food and wine, workshops, music, etc.

The Gardens is looking to increase its performing arts programming, and is particularly interested in work that is suited for, or specifically developed for, an outdoor environment.

We are interested in live theatre, dance or music, that is for an adult (or young adult) audience.

We are also interested in works which are innovative and unique, and offer  something different for audiences.

Programming

As we are an outdoor venue, our season is generally from October to April, in the warmer months.

We are also very open to winter activity however, or early spring time (September), if the work can still be successfully held if the weather is cold or wet.

The Mount Lofty Botanic Garden has a special season over autumn, when the leaves are changing colours.  The Garden has a lot of visitation and media coverage during this time, particularly during April (weather dependent of course).

We generally have shows run throughout the Adelaide Fringe and Festival season. (Feb-March)

We are also looking to potentially increase programming in the Adelaide Botanic Garden in October and November.

The Gardens has hosted or programmed live music, theatre and dance, children's performances, sound and visual art installations, as well as outdoor events which include display stalls, food and wine, workshops, music, etc.
