Monash University Academy of Performing Arts manages the Robert Blackwood Hall, the Alexander Theatre and George Jenkins Theatre where each year 250,000 people attend performing arts events, graduations, speech nights and more. We also produce work with the University community contributing to an active University life.
Monash University is programming only as small number of works at the moment - primarily work for Children and additionally some work from a broader repertoire. Our producing arm concentrates on making and presenting work in theatre and music and consists of concerts, festivals and productions that give opportunities for engagement between professional artists, students learning and reseach objectives as well as comprehesive program experiences for our audiences. We are considering residency modesl for companies developing work that may engage into different areas of the University both nationally and internationally with a broad mix of objectives.
We operate at two suburban locations. On the Clayton Campus The Alexander Theatre and the Robert Blackwood Hall are located At Frankston on the Pennisula Campuse the George Jenkins Theatre is located. Monash's venues operate in suburban Melbourne, located within coomunities who are committed to artistic expeirence for their children, are reasonably mobile and resourced to enjoy artistic and entertainment experiences.
