Can't afford to attend an Arts Market? Check this out.

Oct 17, 2018

Have you ever wanted to attend an Arts Market but just couldn't afford to?

If you have work that you would like to tour, attending an arts market should be on your radar. Consider how the networking opportunities could impact your career. The costs to attend however are great, considering travel, accommodation and registration fees, not to mention your time. To cover these costs you should consider Australia Council's Career Development Fund.

As an independent artist you can apply for:

  • showcase opportunities
  • forum/workshop attendance
  • residencies
  • mentorships
  • arts market attendance and exploration.

Now is the time to research the markets and plan your strategy for the coming year. Take a look at PAC's Australian Arts Market Summary a great reference to find which markets are the right fit for you.

You might consider linking the Career Development Fund with the Strategic International Market Fund to explore international market opportunities. Speak to an Australia Council grants officer for more information.

The next deadline is Tuesday 5 February for projects starting after 1 May 2019.
